I have been developing websites as a hobby since the age of 9; however, most have been lost to the abyss of time. Trekcubed.com is a relatively recent endeavor of mine, and as such I have most of the history archived. Here is a look back at the history of the site, and hopefully a demonstration of how my skills as a designer have matured and improved over time.
» Webdesign History (in reverse-chronological order)
Version 5.x (November 2006 - Present)
The current version of trekcubed.com, version 5.2, brought a slight design change to the site and also a more optimized PHP backend. This version is still actively being worked on.
Version 5 (October 2006)
The central idea for Version 5 was to make the jump to Web 2.0 technologies in addition to a design change, increasing the amount of white-space. Version 5 had absolutely no table-tags and was coded in purely PHP, XHTML and CSS. This was the first time I had ever made a site without any tables.
Version 4 (2004 - 2006)
Version 4 was a significant milestone for trekcubed.com since I had combined it with my ePortfolio created during my first year at SFU. This version is featured on the TechOne program's website on the SFU server, and an archived version still exists on the
about me page of the current site.
Version 3 (September 2003 - February 2004)
Version 3 was another design change. Using new skills that I had learned from a variety of sources, I wanted to give my site an updated look and feel. Version 3 was the first version to carry the trekcubed.com colour scheme of blue, white and silver.
Version 2 (July 2003)
Version 2 was the first version of this site to carry it's own domain name: trekxp.tk. Most of the content was directly copied from Version 1; only the design underwent an overhaul, ditching the flash banner for a more simplistic design.
Version 1 (September 2002)
This site was designed for use as my online portfolio as a piece of required coursework during TPP12 (Technology and Personal Planning). It originally was not called trekcubed, however most of it's content was preserved in future versions of this site. This version was the only revision to have an animated flash banner at the top as well as sound effects.
