Skills Canada Competition
Senior Year 2003
The first step in my Skills Canada saga was when all EDP12 (Electronic Design and Publishing 12) students were obligated to participate in the regional competitions in March of 2003. The students in my class competed against others from around BC who were assigned to our municipality. To my surprise, I was awarded gold, and I say to my surprise since I didn’t think my Vancouver Aquarium project was all that great.
The next step, was to compete at a provincial level since I had to represent my region in the Skills Canada BC provincial competition at Canada Place in April of 2003. I also won gold at the provincial level and would be headed off to Ontario for the National competition along with the other Gold-medal winners from the other trades.
Below are photos taken from both the Provincial and National Skills Canada 2003 Competitions located in Vancouver, BC, and Kitchener, ON respectively.

Update 2005, March:
This past month, I was invited to be a judge in the Vancouver Regional Graphics Competition. It was a great experience and one that I would like to have again. It is likely that I will have that opportunity as I was offered another judging position, this time at the Provincial Competition.
Update 2006, March:
I was once again invited by Skills Canada BC Organizers to help judge the Vancouver Regional Graphics Design Competition. It was a great experience and hope that I will have the opportunity to particpate in next year’s event.
